The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and his party challenging the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari  in the February 23, 2019 general election.

Justice Tanko Muhammad, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, who led six other members of the panel, delivered the three-sentence judgment on Wednesday.

He said the reasons for the decision would be made known on a date to be announced later. He disclosed that he and members of the panel had read all the documents and exhibits filed in the case for two weeks and found the appeal to be lacking in merit.
