A total of 245 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed late Friday.

In a post on its Twitter handle, the centre said 131 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, 16 in Jigawa State, 13 in Ogun State, 12 in Borno State, nine each in Kaduna, Oyo, Rivers and Ebonyi states, eight in Kano State and seven in Kwara State.
Five cases were recorded Katsina State, three each in Akwa Ibom and Sokoto states, two each in Bauchi and Yobe states and one in Anambra, Gombe, Niger, Ondo, Plateau and Bayelsa states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Ten new deaths were also reported, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 221.

This latest figure brings the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Nigeria to 7,016, with the virus spreading to 34 states and the FCT.
