Ten herdsmen were said to have been arrested in Tse-Tigir and Tse-Ndugh villages of Benue state for damaging farmlands. The arrest, according to Brig.-Gen Texas Chukwu, the director, Army Public Relations, was made by troops carrying out special operation (codenamed “Exercise Ayem Akpatuma (Cat Race)”).
“While in the act of destroying the farmland, the herdsmen sighted the aggressive troops and fled into the bush”, but were arrested”, said the general.
“Items recovered from them are five motorcycles, two machetes, assorted charms and N120,000,” he added.
Chukwu said the suspects and the items were handed over to the Police for investigation.
