Arsenal have suffered a major setback in their pursuit of Danilo Pereira. The North London have been reportedly told by Porto that the defensive midfielder will cost them €40 million (£31.7m) which is his release clause. The set price is believed to be above what the Gunners are willing to pay to acquire the Portugal international.
The 24-year-old only moved to the Portuguese giants last summer, signing a four-year contract, becoming a key part of the first-team squad under Julen Lopetegui and then Jose Peseiro.
Danilo’s agent, Oliver Cabrera, told Violanews on Tuesday: “What I know is that Danilo appeals to many clubs, both Spanish and English, but at the moment his future is not set.”
