Chairmen of 18 Local Government Areas in Edo State have reportedly defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to The Independent, this comes after governor Godwin Obaseki officially joined the PDP on Friday.
“I have officially joined the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State.
“I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state,” Obaseki said.
The governor had left the APC, after the party disqualified him from participating in the governorship primary slated for June 22, over allegation of “defective certificate.”
