The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has applauded the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, for its endorsement of Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, for the 2019 general elections.
Oseloka Obaze, Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Anambra State chapter, who spoke on Friday in Akwa, described the Ohanaeze’s decision as “historic” and “courageous.”

According to him, the group’s endorsement of Atiku is the “most profound, constructive and courageous decision.”
“The endorsement is historical and seminal gesture will serve Nigeria well,” Obaze, a former PDP governorship candidate in Anambra, said.
Atiku’s endorsement was announced after the Ime Obi, the highest decision-making body of the Ohanaeze Ndiigbo, met in Enugu on Thursday to decide its preferred candidate in the February 16 election.
The group stated that the PDP manifesto and the recent comments of Atiku had depicted an individual who is ready to restructure the country and ensure that the Igbos are not marginalised in the federation, hence their support for the opposition party.
