As the 2023 election gathers steam, Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said he cannot comment on the rumoured plan by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling party, despite three governors of his party holding a meeting with him (Wike).
Three Governors of the APC, including the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, held a close-door meeting with Wike in Port Harcourt some few days ago.
In the meeting were Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
The Rivers State governor has tacitly remained opposed to his party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, since the former vice president announced Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.
Instead, he has hosted the presidential candidates of Labour Party, Peter Obi, and that of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, in Port Harcourt over the period, sparking speculations that he was looking to bale out of the PDP.
“In as much as I read the story in the national dailies, the APC governors you are talking about did not discuss the mission with me nor have they discussed the outcome of the mission with me. I, therefore, cannot comment on it,” Adamu said in an interview with Arise TV on Sunday.
