Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the immediate past Governor of Adamawa State Senator Jibrilla Bindow, has officially resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
NEWSBREAK reports that the former governor cited the unresolved crisis of the Adamawa State Chapter of the APC as his reason for quitting the party.
Bindow’s formal letter, dated January 20, 2023, was addressed to the APC Chairman in his Kolere ward, Mubi North Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
“Lack of genuine reconciliation with aggrieved stakeholders within the party in Adamawa state since the last primary makes the APC to no longer be a comfortable home.
“While thanking you and the party, I wish to also inform you that my faithful supporters will be joining me across the state in leaving the party so as to champion a cause of building a harmonious Adamawa State that will enshrine unity in our diversity toward a collective development as a people,” Bindow said.
It is believed that the former governor will be joining the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It is a boost for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP, who is also from Adamawa State.
