Bode George, a chieftain of the Peopls Democratic Party (PDP), has said he will renounce his Nigerian citizenship if Bola Tinubu, national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) becomes president in 2023.
George stated this on Wednesday, when he featured on Arise Television‘s breakfast show, The Morning Show.
The former military governor of Ondo State was responding to claim by Adeseye Ogunlewe, a former minister of works, who earlier said there is no better candidate to lead the country in 2023 than Tinubu.
While lamenting infrastructural decay in Lagos, the PDP chieftain accused the former state governor of looting the state’s treasury,
George also said Tinubu performed woefully when he was governor of the state.
“When I heard Ogunleye say he is the best candidate for this country, that kept me thinking. Because if you check your archives, you would have seen the comments, vicious comments made by Ogunlewe against BolaTinubu. Because you are there now, why can’t people be consistent?” he said.
“Why are you dancing like a masquerade in the market? If we take his rulership in Lagos, the eight years he spent here, to put on a scale between 1 and 10, how would we judge him? It’s not more than one.
“And we are still talking about the way he has appropriated the money of the state. The Alpha Beta case is still there, it’s still on. For God’s sake, is that the kind of man? No sir, no. I am ready do debate with Ogunlewe anywhere, even in the graveyard at three O’clock in the morning, he’s talking absolute nonsense.
“The best man to be Nigeria’s President? I will do whatever is necessary to review, renounce my citizenship. That kind of fellow, you think Lagos is better of? You all live here, see it, the traffic, once the rains are here, look at the state.
“No drains, look at what they put at the bar beach? What about the toll gates? They paid him about thirty something billion for the toll gates and the Lagos State government is just coming say ‘they have now taken the full control’”.
