As the 2023 election approaches, the Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, has dismissed speculations that he is eyeing the Vice-Presidential post of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Newsbreak reports.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday evening, Kalu stated that he has already picked the APC form for the Abia North Senate seat.
While defending his decision to step down from his presidential race, he reiterated that the position ought to be zoned to the South East. But as things stand, it won’t happen.
When asked if he wants to be the running mate of a presidential candidate in the 2023 election, the former Abia State governor replied with a “No!”
“I have already bought my Senate seat. My constituency are [sic] waiting for me.”
Kalu added: “Forget about what I want to be. One has to cook the food before eating. What I want to be is immaterial. I am looking for a candidate that will give Nigerian people leadership, and that is in Ahmad Lawan.”
Already, the APC special presidential convention is scheduled to hold from Monday, May 30, to Wednesday, June 1.
