The Sokoto State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate for the 2023 election, Sa’idu Umar, has officially received 5,306 All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters.
The defectors were mainly from Arkilla Gidan hilanni area in Wamakko Local Government (LGA) of Sokoto State.
Speaking at the event on Monday, Umar described the defection as a sign that Nigerians are tired of the “directionless” leadership of the APC, and are ready to embrace the main opposition, the PDP.
He assured the new PDP members of equal treatment in all the affairs of the party. He also urged them to dedicate themselves to the PDP cause during and after the electioneering period.
The event was graced by the Sokoto State PDP Chairman, Bello Aliyu Goronyo who was represented by the State PDP Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal; PDP candidate for member Sokoto State House of Assembly Sokoto North II, Hayatu Tafida; PDP Zonal Vice Chairman North, Alhaji Muhammad Dangwoggwo; Special Adviser on Poultry Development Agency, Prof Bello Rabiu Alkali; among others leaders.
