The Director-General (DG) of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Akin Osuntokun says Peter Obi will win the coming 2023 election without the need for a run-off.
NEWSBREAK recalls that many political analysts project an increasing likelihood that the first ballot at the February 25 presidential election may not produce a clear winner.
By implication, there may be a run-off in the presidential bout before a clear winner is returned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“My own prognosis is that our candidate will win without the need for a run-off,” Osuntokun told Punch. “A run-off is predicated on the anticipation that none of the candidates will fulfil the conditions for being declared elected.
“So we are looking forward to a situation in which we will fulfil the conditions, and in the event we do not, we are prepared for the option of a run-off election. So either way, we stand strong.”
