As the 2023 general election inches closer, the Assistant Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Halilu Tanko Gilima, has relinquished his membership in the ruling party.
In a letter dated October 27, 2022, sighted by Newsbreak.ng, Gilima also announced his resignation from his present position.
The letter was addressed to the Chairman of the APC in Dandume Local Government Area (LGA), with the state party Chairman and the Zonal Vice-Chairman APC Funtua, also copied.
Katsina is the home state of the incumbent Nigerian leader, President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari is a member of the APC.
While Gilima’s destination is not yet clear, he said he is exiting the APC “to enable me pursue [sic] other political ambitions through other routes.”
“I remain grateful to the leadership of the party for the opportunity accorded me to serve the state in that capacity,” he added.
According to an unconfirmed report, Gilima has obtained the membership card of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his ward.
