As the 2023 election draws near, the presidential candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has questioned the credibility of Peter Obi, presidential flagbearer of the Labour Party.
Kachikwu in an interview on Channels TV’s Political Paradigm, aired on Tuesday and monitored by Newsbreak, said Obi failed as governor of Anambra State. He referenced a video allegedly by Nigerian separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu, adding that the activities of Kanu’s group, IPOB which authorities have deemed mostly violent, are outcome of Obi’s failure whilst he was governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014.
“Anambra is the home of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the home of the failure of the Southeast,” he said.
“I was watching a video of Nnamdi Kanu the other day where he was talking about the failure of Peter Obi as a governor. It seems to me like Nigerians, we just don’t want to be radical about our failures.
“We still want to have ourselves round these people. We can’t afford to be deceived. What is the difference between Obi who was running mate to Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election, and Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP?” he asked rhetorically.
