Veteran and notable international scholar, Professor Abiodun Adeniyi has said it would be dangerous to dismiss the winning chances of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, because he is ‘already making an impact’.

Newsbreak reports that Obi has been a sensation on social media since he announced his presidential bid on the platform of the Labour Party earlier this year.

While the opposition has dismissed Obi’s support as mere social media noise, Prof. Adeniyi believes the support by youths online could translate to victory at the polls.

“It is safe to say that he is making an impact,” Prof. Adeniyi told Arise TV on Monday.

“He is making a statement in the political scene. And it is going to be dangerous for any permutation to dismiss him. We have made an argument in the past: there’s a youth burge in this country. And they are becoming increasingly very conscious. And they are domiciled on the social media which is also very critical in terms of the creation of awareness.

“What they need to do is to extend the online consciousness to offline life.”
