A 24-year-old fake soldier, Emmanuel Dominic, has been arrested by the police in Minna, the Niger State capital, for impersonating a military officer while attempting to bail his friend from a police station.
Parading the suspect recently, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, explained that Dominic, who lives in the Tunga area of Minna, appeared at the station dressed in complete camouflage, disguising to be a military officer, to bail his friend.
“The suspect dressed in Nigerian Army camouflage, went to the police division and paraded himself as a soldier of the Nigerian Army with service no. 05313 attached to TRADOC, Minna, to secure the release of his friend in police custody,” he said.
Abiodun said during interrogation, Dominic confessed that the uniform was for his late father, claiming he is just a barrack boy who wanted to help his friend.
The Niger PPRO added that the suspect would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
