Buhari Abiola, a 29-year-old man, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 21-year-old lady.

In a statement issued by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command’s Public Relations Officer, on Sunday, Buhari, who is also known as Eyinju, was arrested on Thursday.
According to the police, the suspect was arrested following a report from the victim (name withheld), who reported the incident at the Adigbe police divisional headquarters.

The law enforcement agency said that the victim explained that she was deceived by the suspect, who had asked her to visit his house to collect the money for the fried potatoes and beancake she sold to him.
Upon getting to the house, the suspect forcefully had carnal knowledge of the victim for turning down his advances.

The statement read: “Upon the report, the DPO Adigbe division, CSP Austin Okpadile detailed his men to the scene where the randy suspect was promptly arrested”.
“On interrogation, the suspect who was denying initially later confessed that he actually raped the girl”.
“He stated that he has been making advances to the girl for quite some time but the girl has been turning him down, and when he saw her selling fried potatoes, he decided to use that as a bait to get her to the bed.”

Kenneth Ebrimson, the State Commissioner of Police, who expressed worry about the rate at which young girls are being sexually abused, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution, according to the statement.
