At least, three million cows have been lost to frequent skirmishes between farmers and herders in Edo state, says umbrella body, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association.
Baba Ngalzarma, the national secretary of the herders’ body said this while standing in for the national president at a peace parley with the police leadership in Edo state.
He blamed the killing and incessant fights between the farmers and the herders on the activities of Fulani cattle rustlers.
Ngalzarma said some of the skirmishes were politically-motivated, adding the cattle breeders association was not a violent group.
The meeting instigated by the Commissioner of Police, Edo Command, Johnson Kokumo aimed at finding a solution to the constant conflicts between both sides.
