A 55-year-old man, Idowu Eyekole, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening to interfere with the property of one Otunola Adeyemi.
According to the charge sheet, Eyekole and others at large on November 3 at 11 Ogayemi Close, Iwaya Road, Onike threatened and damaged a shop erected on the land belonging to the complainant.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector Adegboyega Osimuwa said the shop was worth N250,000.
He said the suspect, “forcibly took possession of the property by building a fence in front of the shop”, an offence contrary and punishable under Section 52 and 5 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state.
According to Osimuwa, the defendant carried out the acts to annoy and intimidate the complainant, an allegation the defendant denied.
He told the court that his offences contravened Section 340, 44 (1) (4), 339 (1) and Section 350 and 56 (1) (b) of the criminal Laws of Lagos state.
O.A Olajuwon, the presiding Magistrate, however, granted him bail of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must show proof of tax payment to the Lagos state government, and adjourned the case to January 8, 2018.
