A total of 61 members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Kaduna, have been released by their abductors.
The church worshippers were released on Friday and handed over to the Baptist Church on Saturday morning.
The church, located in Chikun Local Government Area of the state, was invaded on October 31 by gunmen, who killed two persons, while several others were abducted.
Three others were injured and taken to the hospital — leaving 61 persons in captivity.
Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Kaduna chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), had said the abductors demanded N99 million for the release of the worshipers.
He, however, confirmed that the release of the abductees on Saturday after they were handed over to the Baptist Church by a delegation led by Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner for Internal Security.
Hayab said the remaining 61 Baptist church members were freed alongside nine others by the bandits.
