The Abia South senator, while speaking on Magic FM, Aba, Abia State, said that seeing Ihejirika campaigning for the APC is disheartening, lamenting that he abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which made him army chief under the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
“My greatest regret in the entire campaign is seeing Gen. Ihejirika coming to campaign in Aba,” he said.

“The same man is supporting a party that has so much disdain for Igbos. Ihejirika is with APC that has pushed out our people to a point that you hardly see any Igbo in the top rank of the military and other forces. It’s an unfortunate one.”
Abaribe also said no APC lawmaker from the South East has been bold to condemn the insecurity ravaging the country.
“People are being kidnapped and killed in all parts of the country including Southeast, Abia and Isiukwuato LGA where Ihejirika hails from, yet no APC member from these areas have come up to condemn the killings.
