Former Kaduna Central Senator and 2023 gubernatorial aspirant, Shehu Sani, has condemned some terrorists claiming kind gesture because of the Holy month of Ramadan.
Newsbreak.ng reports that Ramadan has already started and is expected to last until Sunday May 1. During this period Muslims are expected to fast between sunrise to sunset for roughly a month. The period also involves regular daily prayers, acts of charity and self-reflection.
A furious Sani says the terrorists are hypocritical, because they are ‘using the name of Allah and Ramadan to colour their heinous atrocities’.
“The video footage of Terrorists claiming kind gesture because of “Fasting month of Ramadan” is absolute rubbish. You can’t shed the blood of innocent people and kidnap hostages for ransom and use the name of Allah or Ramadan to colour your heinous atrocities. Godless!” Sani wrote on his verified Twitter handle on Thursday morning.

Nigeria’s northwest and north-central states have long been afflicted by violence fuelled by disputes over access to land and resources, among other factors. Heavily armed gangs have taken advantage of the lack of effective policing to launch attacks, pillage villages, steal cattle and kidnap for ransom.
But violence has recently become more widespread, piling pressure on the federal government – already battling the Boko Haram armed group and its offshoot in the northeast for more than a decade – to do more to halt the attacks.
