Adamu Garba, the Chief Executive Officer of IPI Group and owner of Crowwe App, has bemoaned the removal of his Instagram account by Facebook, the owners of the mobile photo app.
Garba’s IG account was removed on Wednesday, with his page displaying ‘the user not found’.
This occurred two days after the controversial disappearance of the Crowwe App from the Google Play Store.
It was learnt that multiple users had reported the Instagram account of the former presidential aspirant and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting to the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday, Garba voiced his opposition to the action, saying that is why more people to get enlisted on his own app.
“They’ve taken down my Instagram account too. This could happen to anyone for voicing out contrary opinions. More reasons why we should work excellently on Crowwe,” he wrote.
The reason for the removal of Garba’s account remains unclear but Instagram is known for banning accounts that violate its policy or reported for spam, fraud, or a fake account.
Garba’s Crowwe app was reported to Google by Nigerians for copyright violation.
Following the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria by the Federal Government, Garba, an ardent critique of the microblogging site, stopped using the platform and used more of his Instagram page for his social media interactions.
He also presented the Crowwe app as an alternative to the microblogging website that can help “to grow Nigeria”.
Nigerians, however, criticised the application on many grounds, including its privacy policy. For instance, critics discovered that Crowwe’s Terms and Conditions were copied from another app, Spotify.
The app has also received terrible reviews on the play store before its disappearance.
