Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, has suspended and ordered the immediate suspension of Mr. Segun Oladitan, Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC).
Mr. Yusuf Oyeniran, Ms. Suibat Adubi, Mr. Yinka Ajiboye, Mrs. Abosede Omibeku, Mr. Dosu Gidigbi, and Mr. Wahab Adewoyin were also suspended by the governor.
Tesleem Igbalaye, the Secretary to the State Government, made the news in a statement on Monday.
The government explained that the suspension bordered on petitions of financial impropriety levelled against the chairman of the state’s electoral body.
“This suspension is sequel to several petitions bordering on financial impropriety, dereliction of duty, absenteeism and abuse of office against the said chairman and members of the commission.
“Pending the outcome of investigation into the allegations against the suspended chairman and members of the commission, the secretary to the commission shall hold forth in running the affairs of the commission”, the statement said.
Recall that the new Osun governor had on assumption of office made significant changes to the status quo. Adeleke who assumed office on Sunday reversed a series of appointments, decisions and actions taken by the immediate past Gboyega Oyetola government.
