The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday arrived in Cotonou by boat ahead of their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Benin Republic on Saturday.
The Eagles departed Lagos State through the Falomo Jetty and embarked on an approximately 1 hour 40 minutes journey to Cotonou, the commercial capital of Benin.
The players were seen listening to music and gisting as they disembarked from the boats in Cotonou.
The team was received by Nigeria’s ambassador to Benin Republic, Olawale Awe, and other mission staff, who later led the team and other officials to Cotonou, where the group is ensconced at the Golden Tulip Hotel.
They will leave for Porto Novo, the capital of Benin Republic, by bus on Saturday morning and return to the Golden Tulip after their clash with the Squirrels at the Stade Charles de Gaulle, a statement from the Nigeria Football Federation added.
A point from the game will secure the Super Eagles’ spot in AFCON 2022 holding in Cameroon.
