Otis Hughley, coach of Nigeria’s senior women basketball team, has stated that the D’Tigress will not underrate any opponent ahead of the FIBA Afrobasket championship in Dakar, Senegal.
Speaking on Nigeria’s group opponents, which are Cameroon and Tunisia, the coach said his side’s game against Cameroon will be tough, having lost to the Francophone country in the semi-final of the 2015 edition.
Otis also said Tunisia would be a strong opponent, noting that the North Africans would take all opponents seriously.
“I know Cameroon has a good history, they’re tough and some years ago precisely 2015, they beat Nigeria in the semis, so that’s probably been the last time that they play. Tunisia we can’t go to sleep. All these teams we have to take serious because anybody can be beaten and we’re taken them all the same. No matter who they are, we’re going to take them all hard,” he said.
The tournament will take place between August 10 and 18, 2019.
