The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has released a preliminary report on the helicopter crash that occurred on August 28, 2020 in Opebi, Lagos.

The report said the helicopter, a Bell 206B III helicopter with registration marks 5N-BQW, owned by Quorum Aviation Limited, had a valid Certificate of Airworthiness and the pilot’s last medical examination was valid until August 6, 2020.

The AIB added that there is no evidence to show that an application for exemption provided by the All Operators’ Letter AOL DG020/20 had been submitted to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

It added that the helicopter does not have the ability to jettison fuel.
