The Ondo State Government has allowed employees and students to attend work and school in traditional attire on Fridays.
The government claims that the directive was intended to promote cultures and traditions.
This was said shortly after the State Executive Council meeting on Tuesday by Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the state commissioner for information and orientation.
“The council decided that from now on, workers in the state will be required to put on traditional clothes to work every Friday. And for students in the state, it is permissible from now on that they can wear traditional attires to school every Friday,” Ademola-Olateju said.
Mr. Adewale Akinlosotu, the state’s commissioner for culture and tourism, commented on the development by saying that the council had decided that, in order to preserve Yoruba culture, public employees and students would begin wearing ethnic clothing to work and school on Friday.
