Organisers of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, have announced Senegalese-born awardwinning singer, Akon as host of the 2017 edition of the awards.
AFRIMA 2017 will hold on 12 November at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
In a statement released by the organisers, Akon “will handle the event proceedings of the live broadcast award show scheduled to air live on over 80 television stations and online platforms across the world with support from the co-host, Sophy Aiida, a Cameroonian-French entertainment broadcaster.”
About 700 African artistes are expected in Lagos between November 10 and 12, for this year’s edition of the award.Also, top African artistes, including Salif Keita, Fally Ipupa, Femi Kuti and Wizkid, will be the centre of attraction at the forthcoming event.
Others include Young Paris (Democratic Republic of Congo), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Bussine (Gabon), Bebe Cool (Uganda), 2Baba (Nigeria), Venessa Mdee (Tanzania), Sheyi Shay (Nigeria), Nasty C (South Africa), Sarkodie (Ghana), Fnaire (Morroco), Eddy Kenzo (Uganda), Ibitssam Tiskat (Morocco) and Emtee (South Africa), among others.
