Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Akwa United, will celebrate their 2020/2021 title with a victory parade on Monday.
Akwa United were crowned NPFL champions on Sunday after their comprehensive 5-2 victory over MFM FC at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.
According to a statement by Mfon Patrick, Media Manager of the team, the parade will drive through “Nwaniba Water Fountain, through Edet Akpan Avenue (Four Lanes) to Nsikak Eduok Avenue (Two lanes) to IBB Avenue, down to Atiku Abubakar Avenue, to Ikot Ekpene Road, straight down to Ibom Plaza, through to Oron Road, to Nwaniba road through Dominic Utuk Avenue to terminate at Wellington Bassey Way Round-about”.
Patrick urged fans and supporters to turn up in the team’s traditional white and orange jersey.
Meanwhile, Plateau United have congratulated Akwa United for emerging champions of the league.
In a statement signed by the club’s General Manager, Pius Henwan, the former champions described the feat by the Promise Keepers “as well deserved in view of their impressive performance this season”.
“The management of Plateau United Football Club of Jos has congratulated Akwa United of Uyo for winning the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL.
“Am really happy for you for your efforts and sacrifice in leading this prestigious club to victory. It clearly indicates that you learn alot from me by bringing coach Kennedy Boboye who is now a specialist in taking clubs to win their first league title,” Henwan said.
