Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, has revealed that defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita, have returned to training.
Klopp speaking at a press conference on Monday ahead of the club’s Boxing Day Premier League fixture against Newcastle, said both players are expected to feature against the Toons.
Alexander-Arnold picked up a foot injury during Liverpool’s Champions League victory over Napoli earlier this month. It was initially feared the full-back could spend long time on the sidelines.
However, after missing victories over Manchester United and Wolves in the league, the 20-year-old has made a swift recovery and he’s now back in training.
Keita also picking up a rib injury in the victory over Wolves on last Friday.
“Trent is back in training, in full training. We will see,” Klopp said.
“Nothing new [on Keita] because it is pretty early, [but] nobody said to me so far he cannot train. I expect him back in training.”
But the full back is still expected to be assessed by Liverpool’s medical team at Melwood later today, with James Milner and Nathaniel Clyne as other options at the right-back.
Liverpool are currently topping the table by four points, after closest rivals, Manchester City, suffered a shocking 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace at home last weekend.
