Matrix Homes and Properties Limited, a Lagos-based property company, has reportedly disowned Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, who is in police custody over alleged rape.

According to The Status, the company has issued a disclaimer that the actor is no longer its brand ambassador, “following his recent misconduct which is antithetical to our company’s values.”
“Matrix Homes and Properties Ltd therefore dissociates itself in entirety from Baba Ijesha,” the company is said to have added in the disclaimer.
The 48-year-old actor was arrested on April 22, 2021, for allegedly defiling a minor in care of Nigerian comedienne, Princess.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the Lagos State police command, said preliminary findings revealed that the suspect started assaulting the victim sexually since she was seven years old.
A video footage also emerged on social media on Thursday, showing Baba Ijesha admitted to raping the victim, who is now 14 years old.
There was an uproar following a report that a directive had been given for Baba Ijesha’s release from custody, as he could not be detained indefinitely due to the ongoing strike by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in the state.

However, the police command denied the report, saying the actor has a case to answer.
