The Department of State Security spokeswoman, Marilyn Ogar, has been demoted, along with some others whose promotions were hurriedly made before the new administration began. Ogar and others promotion, which was first reported by Premium Times, was allegedly a pay back by the outgone President, Goodluck Jonathan for the former’s partisan roles in the past general elections. The online medium had also reported how the Jonathan administration allocated 10 trucks of Dual Purpose Kerosene as prebend to Ogar. The demotion of the officers was effected by the newly appointed SSS acting director general, Lawal Daura.
The demotion was made through a circular dated July 3 and signed by one Tma Minti.
“In view of the observed lapses in the promotion exercise release from March 31, 2015 to date, the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has directed its suspension forthwith”, it read. The circular also said the personnel affected include those promoted, converted and upgraded within the period under review. They were consequently directed to revert to their former ranks with immediate effect.
