Montero Lamar Hill, an American rapper also known as Lil Nas X, has released his ‘Satan Shoes’ on Monday.
The shoes, produced in collaboration with MSCHF, a streetwear company, only has 666 pairs and contains a drop of human blood in the sole, reportedly taken from members of the MSCHF team.
The controversial kicks — apparently modified Nike Air Max 97s — are decorated with a pentagram pendant and a reference to Luke 10:18, a Bible verse about Satan’s fall from heaven. They’ll be sold for $1,018.
However, Nike has disowned them, saying they do not have any collaboration with Lil Nas X.
The release of the Satan Shoes coincides with Lil Nas X’s latest single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” and its accompanying music video. In the video, already viewed 29 million times since its release last Friday, Lil Nas X is seduced out of what appears to be the Garden of Eden, falls into hell and gives the devil a lap dance.
