Cynthia Amaka Okoro, a mother of one whose leg was amputated following an accident eight years ago, has appealed to Nigerians for help.
Okoro, who hails from Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State and a graduate of Physics from Imo State Polytechnic, narrated that life has been difficult for her since she lost her left leg, coupled with the untimely demise of her father.

She explained that she got pregnant while looking for help, adding that the man who was responsible for the pregnancy subjected her to consistent battery.
According to Okoro, her mother rejected her with the pregnancy, forcing her to flee to Lagos.
She said her woes got worse after all her efforts to find a job proved abortive because of her physical condition.
“Though I got pregnant for him but had to run away because he used to beat me at slightest provocation after delivering of the baby. I went to my sister to seek shelter after my mother refuse to accept the child as she saw me as a family disgrace.
“Few weeks later, the father of the child came begging, I gave him a second chance, not knowing it was a chance to kill me. I was beaten almost to death, and again, I had to run away back to my sister’s place, but she refuse to accept me back. She said that her husband never welcomed the idea of me staying with them”, she said.
In a video interview, the woman begged Nigerians for assistance to get an artificial leg, saying what she makes from her petty business is not enough to feed herself and her child.
She also said she has resorted to begging to make ends meet.
“A friend from Facebook decided to accommodate me in Lagos Where I live, I beg on Facebook and on the road side to feed my baby and I.
“I’m calling on all Nigerians to help me so that I can get an artificial leg that can enable me walk well and let them empower me so that I can start up a good business. There are two businesses in my mind; One is boutique, the other one is Spa and Massaging business. These are the two businesses in my mind. Please Nigerians, help me, I’m begging you to help me change this condition.
“I find it difficult to feed, at times, I beg on Facebook to eat, at times, I take to the street. From the little savings, I started a meat pie business. But the money I get from it isn’t much because I find it difficult to feed myself and my baby. That is why I’m calling on all Nigerians to come to my aid because at times what comes to my mind is for me to kill myself and my son and end this life. Please Nigerians I’m begging you to help me, help me,” she appealed.
