The organisers of the Headies Awards have announced via its social media platform, that Beninese Singer Angelique Kidjo is the 2022 recipient of the Headies Hall of Fame award.
According to the organisers, the Hall of Fame special recognition was bestowed on an individual of African descent who has made excellent and “outstanding impact to the African entertainment industry, home and abroad.”
Asides the Hall of Fame recognition, some individuals were given special recognition for “excellence and outstanding impact on the entertainment industry within the year under review” in this edition.
Recipients of such recognition include Burna Boy’s mum and manager, Bose Ogulu; Wizkid’s manager, Sunday Are and 2Baba’s manager, Efe Omorogbe.
Some international artistes were also recognised for their “outstanding impact to the Nigerian entertainment industry.”
Haitian musician, Wyclef Jean; American-Senegalese singer, Akon; and American rapper, Diddy, were recipients of this award.
The 2022 edition of the Headies awards is set to take place at the COBB Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, USA.
