Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister of education, has blasted Lai Mohammed, Minister of information, over his comment regarding the abduction of school students in Nigeria.
While speaking on the recent abduction of students and staff of Government Science College, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State by bandits in an interview broadcast on Monday on Channels Television, Mohammed said the incident was not limited to Nigeria, noting that developed countries also experience school kidnapping.
Reacting in a post on Twitter on Tuesday, Ezekwesili, who is the co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls initiative established to advocate for the rescue of the schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists in Chibok, Borno State in 2014, described Mohammed’s comment as “soulless”.
According to her, the agony of parents whose children have been abducted by criminals across the country would haunt the minister for his comment.
Imagine. Yet another soulless statement that should not be heard from anyone in Public Leadership. The cries of #ChibokGirls and parents, #LeahSharibu and parents #KagaraStudents and parents are judging this statement daily. Daily. ✍🏾 https://t.co/xZngo35t5x
