Anthony Okpotu, the Lobi Stars of Makurdi striker has beaten Stephen Odey of MFM FC to the Nigeria Professional Football League top scorer award.
The point man took his tally to 19 goals for his club after netting once in his club’s final game against FC Ifeanyi Ubah on Saturday.
Lobi held FC Ifeanyi Ubah to a 1-1, with Okpotu getting his side’s only goal after 24 minutes.
The goal moved him one ahead of his closest rival, Odey, who had scored 19 times for MFM FC before moving abroad to join FC Zurich.
The Lobi front man will be awarded with the Rasheed Yekini prize for the first time in his career, though he is four goals shy of the all-time highest goal record in an NPFL season by Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh in 2014.
