Labaran Maku, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC), of masterminding an attack on his entourage, while on a political rally of the state, Tuesday.
The entourage of the former Minister of Information was attacked by thugs, who barricaded a major road leading to Kwandere, Lafia, to stop the campaign train and Maku said the APC was responsible for the attack.
Maku, his running mate, Abu Alhaji Ibrahim, two senatorial candidates and a House of Representatives candidate were unhurt, according to Ibrahim, who made a formal complaint at the state police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Lafia.
The complainant accused the APC, of the said attack, alleging that the thugs were sponsored by the party to disrupt the APGA campaign.
The DailyTrust reports that six persons on the convoy were injured, 16 vehicles were smashed, while five motorcycles were stolen.
State police spokesman, DSP Ugochukwu Theodore said the command received information about APGA supporters being attacked while on their way for campaign and that the police had commenced investigation into the incident. He also informed that the identity of the thugs was unknown at press time. APC officials did not react to enquiries when contacted.
