Ahmad Lawan, Nigeria’s Senate President, on Tuesday said his 20 years experience as a lawmaker stands him out as the best man to be the presidential flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Newsbreak reports that Lawan said this while addressing the delegates at the APC presidential primaries at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
The news medium recalls that news emerged on Monday that Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the APC National Chairman, picked the Senate President as a consensus candidate of the party.
The National Working Committee (NWC) and President Muhammadu Buhari denied picking a consensus candidate, insisting that all aspirants will meet at the poll as delegates would decide who flies the flag of the party in the 2023 presidential election.
Promoting himself, Lawan said globally, parliamentarians lead.
“Having spent 23 years in the National Assembly, I am eminently qualified to be President. Worldwide, developed democracies are ran by parliamentarians,” Lawan said.
