Desmond Elliot, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been re-elected as the lawmaker representing Surulere constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Elliot, who is also a prominent Nollywood actor and producer, defeated other candidates to win the election, which was conducted in Iponri Estate, Eric Moore, Bode Thomas, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Stadium, and Akerele areas of Surulere.
According to the result declared by Bolajoko Dixon-Ogbechi, the constituency’s returning officer, the APC candidate polled 15,357 votes, while Benjamin Olasunkanmi, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 3,628 votes.
Shitta-Bey Oluwarotimi of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) came third with 116 votes, Dawodu Oluwaseyi of Accord Party came fourth with 65 votes, while Makanjuola Olaseni of YP came fifth with 59 votes.
” Desmond Olusola Elliot of APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner and is returned elected,” Dixon-Ogbechi proclaimed.
The returning officer stated that out of the 134,939 total number of registered voters in the constituency, only 20,340 of them were accredited voters for Saturday’s election.
She said the valid votes cast were 19,357, while the total number of rejected votes was 973.
Elliot, 45, was first elected into the Lagos House of Assembly in 2015.
