Joseph Godson, an apprentice, has committed suicide after losing his boss’ N150,000 to gambling in Bayelsa State.

It was learnt that the deceased staked the money on a virtual game, which lasted for less than two minutes.
An eyewitness said the deceased took his life because he could not explain what happened to his boss.
“Suga, not knowing how to explain the situation to his boss, made him to take his own life,” Within Nigeria reports.

Reacting to the incident, Asinim Butswat, police command spokesperson, said the authority is aware of the incident, though it has not been reported officially.
“The Divisional Police Officer of Bassambri Nembe said the incident was not reported officially to the police, but we heard about the incident,” Butswat said.

Three persons are now said to have killed themselves for losing money to betting in the state in one year.
