Tukur Buratai, a retired Lieutenant General and former chief of army staff, has warned that any attempt to soil his reputation will be resisted.

He said this through his lawyer, Osuagwu Ugochukwu, in response to claims that some money meant for arms procurement disappeared under his watch.
Babagana Monguno, the National Security Adviser, had said in an interview with BBC Hausa that money meant for arms procurement disappeared under the former service chiefs. He said President Muhammadu Buhari would investigate the matter and unravel where the money or the arms went.

He later issued a denial, saying he was misquoted.
“I can confirm that LT General Buratai and other ex-service chiefs were never mentioned in the interview and neither was any arms fund missing under the stewardship of LT Gen T.Y Buratai.
“Interestingly, NSA Babagana Monguno has denied making such accusations. We therefore urge members of the public to discountenance any such misquoted narrative suggesting sleaze on the integrity of RTD LT Gen T.Y Buratai,” he said.

“Because any attempt to further tarnish the image of the former Chief of Army staff will be resisted legally,”
