The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, arrested the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh. The commission had traced N1.4bn, of the $2.1bn arms deal, to an account of a company believed to belong to him. Investigators claimed they discovered various cash payments into the company, Destra Investment Limited’s bank account, which it believed was used to fund the PDP’s activities, including its 2015 campaign. The investigation also said there was no document to show the company, Destra Investment Limited, executed any job for the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). It also revealed that Metuh was allegedly on a monthly stipend of N4 million cash from the ONSA.
Metuh had said on Monday that the EFCC was “doing a one-sided prosecution” without inviting him. He also claimed that his company as well as himself are innocent of any charge regarding the arms scandal and would honour any invitation extended to him by the commission.
“I don’t know whether they are investigating the company I have interest in or my office as the National Publicity Secretary of PDP.
