Hassan Ahmed, a Major-General of the Nigerian Army, who was murdered on Thursday, has been laid to rest at Lungi Barracks Cemetery, Abuja.
Ahmed, who was recently appointed director at army headquarters, was reportedly shot dead in the Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The gunmen also abducted the senior military officer’s wife.
The couple were said to have ran into an ambush while returning from Okene, Kogi State.
Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, army spokesman, confirmed Ahmed’s death in a statement.
He said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya, had already sent a delegation to condole with the victim’s family.
