The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has promised to end their industrial action in the coming days as the aggrieved union met with the leadership of the House of Representatives.
At the meeting that was held on Monday, Emmanuel Osodoke, the union’s national chairman commended the lawmakers for their input towards ensuring that the strike is called off.
While stating that strikes are normal events that occur around the world, the union’s president, however, appealed to the government to ensure that strikes don’t linger.
“Once again I want to thank you, we also extend our gratitude to the president for intervening, and I do know that this is the last lap and I want to appeal that in future, we shouldn’t allow anybody allow strike to linger, strike shouldn’t go beyond two days… We hope that hopefully together in the next few days, we will put an end to it,” Mr Osodoke said.

His comments came shortly after Femi Falana, the legal counsel to the union revealed that the strike will be called off soon.
While speaking at a Book Launch by Lanre Arogundade, Falana said he couldn’t disclose how the 8-month-old strike will be resolved for confidentiality’s sake.
