The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in respect of the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, condemned the murder of Alika Ogorchukwu, a 39-year-old Nigerian.
Newsbreak.ng recalls that Ogorchukwu was recently beaten to death in the city of Civitanova Marche in Italy while passersby watched and filmed, making no attempt to help him. His killing has evoked outrage among Nigerians, especially on social media.
“The murder of a Nigerian, Alika Ogorchukwu, in broad daylight in the streets of Civitanova Marche, Italy, stands condemned,” Atiku wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
“The life of every Nigerian, at home and abroad, is precious and deserves to be protected.
“The steps so far taken by the Nigerian Embassy in collaborating with the Italian authorities to ensure that justice is done is commendable.”

The suspected murderer has been arrested by Italian police, according to the Nigerian government.
It is also understood that the Italian police were working and cooperating with the Nigerian mission in Italy to ensure justice is done.
