Austin Eguavoen Steps Down As Super Eagles Coach

Austin Eguavoen has stepped down from his role as the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

This is coming few days after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for Qatar 2022.

On Tuesday, Nigeria failed to beat the Black Stars of Ghana at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, to book a place at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

According to media reports,  Eguavoen will return to his role as Technical Director of all national teams.

About Austin Eguavoen

Augustine Owen Eguavoen, born 19 August 1965, was a member of the Nigeria national team squad that qualified for the country’s first-ever World Cup in 1994 and won the African Nations Cup in the same year.

He began his career with ACB Lagos in Nigeria, before moving to Gent in 1986. He went on to play for K.V. Kortrijk, CD Ourense, Sacramento Scorpions, Torpedo Moscow and finished his career in Malta with Sliema Wanderers.
