Super Falcons’ Desire Oparanozie, scored four goals on Monday, to ensure Nigeria’s easy qualification for the 2018 African Women Championship in Ghana later this year.
The team, tutored by Thomas Dennerby, put six past the Scorpion Queens of Gambia at the Agege Township stadium, Lagos.
Oparanozie opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the third minute, before Asisat Oshoala doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 44th minute. The FC Guingamp striker was again on target in the 49th minute shortly after play resumed in the second half.
The lanky forward completed her hat trick in the 63rd minute, before Oshoala also completed her brace 10 minutes later. She made it 6-0 in the 83rd minute with a fine finish, to ensure that the scorpions were well beaten.
The win made it 7-0 on aggregate, after Nigeria secured 1-0 victory in the first leg in Baku, Gambia last Wednesday.
The victory means the Super Falcons have qualified to defend the crown they won two years ago in Cameroon.
