Some members of the Badoo cult have attacked a woman at a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in the Igbo Agbowa area of Ikorodu, Lagos State on Saturday. The cultists, about three in number, were said to have disguised as worshippers and attended the church’s vigil service. They struck the woman after the service around 3am. Members of the church were said to have been sleeping inside the church when the men hit the woman’s head with a stone.
Her cries had woken others who chased the suspects. One of them was apprehended while two others escaped. An eyewitness told The Punch that the apprehended one had been handed over to the police at the Ipakodo Police Station. He said it took the intervention of the community’s leaders to persuade a group of youths from lynching the suspect. He said the residents were not confident the police would ensure justice. He said he victim was receiving treatment in a hospital
Fatai Owoseni, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident but said the command would keep all information secret so as to ensure that sensitive information is not revealed.
